Production press conference of FujiTV Autumn 2015 drama "Mutsu ~ Mieru Me ~"

The production press conference of FujiTV Autumn 2015 drama "Mutsu ~ Mieru Me ~" was held on 1 Oct in a Tokyo hotel which was attended by cast members including Nishijima Hidetoshi, Ito Atsushi, Ito Hideaki, Ishibashi Anna, Nakamura Aoi, Hamabe Minami and Asada Miyoko. The drama which is due to begin its run from 7 October in the Wednesdays 10pm timeslot, is based largely on the novel "Mutsu" by Kusakabe Yo and also includes original stories on cases which are resolved within one episode. Nishijima plays the role of a doctor named Tameyori Eisuke who works together with the police detective played by Ito Atsushi to solve cases with his observant eye and medical experience.

Nishijima who was dressed in a doctor's white robe at the press conference, commented that he feels the passion and dedication on set every day and is very happy to work with actors who he has always wanted to work with. As such, he hopes to make this drama one which viewers will find worthwhile watching. The director had also asked Nishijima to show a different side of his usual cool image so this time, his character will be someone who keeps smiling and goes into a daze at times as he daydreams which Nishijima jokingly said is close to his true character offscreen. As Nishijima had been largely involved in action works the past three years, he had to pay extra attention to make sure that his facial expressions do not look too scary and avoid frowning as pointed out by the director.

As for Ito Atsushi, he joked that his characters died when he worked with Nishijima in "Double Face" and with Ito Hideaki in the first Umizaru movie. Thus, he was worried that his character might die anytime in this drama but was relieved to see that the character was still alive in Episode 4.

Ito Hideaki who plays the director of a hospital and is Tameyori's rival in the story, commented that his character is the typical baddie in the novel with a lot of ambition. However, as Ito had never been to medical school nor attended university, he had to keep telling himself that he is a great hospital director in order to get himself fully immersed in the role.
