Production press conference of NHK Winter 2016 drama "Itooshikute"

The production press conference of NHK Winter 2016 drama "Itooshikute" was held on 8 January which was attended by Tanaka Rena, Yoshida Eisaku and Akiyoshi Kumiko. The drama which is produced by NHK Nagoya and will be shown from 12 January at 10pm on Tuesdays, features Tanaka as a cloth dyer who gets embroiled in a love triangle with her teacher played by Akiyoshi and the latter's lover who is a vet (Yoshida). The filming was done between the end of September and late December in Nagoya and Gifu Prefecture's Tajimi City so Tanaka had to stay in Nagoya during that period on her own.

Due to the fact that Yoshida had gone through a divorce with his ex-wife Hirako Risa on 21 December, the media was naturally interested to ask him about this topic. In response, Yoshida said with a smile that although many things happened at the end of last year, he hopes to begin the new year afresh and work hard. When asked about his first appearance in a love story for the first time in 10 years, Yoshida said that he didn't realise the long gap until he started the filming and is open to acting in such dramas in future. As for the intimate scene with Akiyoshi, Yoshida commented that he has always been exercising so there is no concern about showing off his figure in such scenes. In order to prepare for the filming, Yoshida also went to the vet he used to go to in order to learn more about the job.

Usually, what the leads say would be reported in detail in the articles but sometimes, if someone in the cast happens to be in the limelight for some reason, the attention will shift from the lead to the supporting cast. In this instance, Yoshida Eisaku was recently divorced and the breakup was slightly controversial since the couple had been rumoured to be on bad terms for a long time so it's no wonder that the reporters were more keen to interview Yoshida rather than the lead actress.
