Press conference for "Kurobe no Taiyo"

The press conference for FujiTV's 50th anniversary drama SP, "Kurobe no Taiyo" was held on 25 February at its headquarters in Odaiba. The drama is scheduled to be shown in two parts on 21 and 22 March at 9pm. Cast members including Katori Shingo, Izumi Pinko, Kobayashi Kaoru, Yusuke Santa Maria, Ayase Haruka and Fukada Kyoko attended the event.

The story is about a group of people who risk their lives to build the Kurobe Dam and was first made famous through the movie starring Ishihara Yujiro and Mifune Toshiro. According to the producer Ota Ryo, they used the budget meant for 2 seasons of a single drama in order to replicate the scale of this project.

Katori mentioned that it was tough to be drenched all the time when filming the scenes of the tunnel accident and revealed that he was surprised at the amount of money spent on the 4 months of filming. Seeing that, he was amazed that since lots of money was spent on making the set, it didn't feel as if the country is going through a financial crisis. Izumi Pinko who plays Katori's mother happily declared that she is finally the mother of a SMAP member.
