Update to the Summer ratings race - 11 Jul 12

Here's how the ranking looks like after the Monday and Tuesday dramas finished their first OAs:

1) Kyoto Chiken no Onna 16.0%
2) Ghost Mama Sousasen 15.2%
3) GTO 15.1%
4) Summer Rescue 14.7%
5) Rich Man, Poor Woman 13.9%
6) Keishichou Sousa Ikka 9 Kakari 13.0%
7) Tokkan / Beautiful Rain 12.9%
8) Iki mo dekinai natsu 12.1%
9) Higashino Keigo Mysteries 11.3%
10) Naniwa Shounen Tanteidan 7.8%
11) Boys On The Run 7.5%
12) Omoni Naitemasu 6.6%
13) VISION Koroshi ga mieru onna 4.1%

Surprisingly, Rich Man, Poor Woman didn't get off to a stellar start like its predecessor in the same timeslot (Kagi no Kakatta Heya). It's a bit worrying especially since the first OA and the finale tend to be the episodes which gets the highest rating. I haven't watched it yet but if it's not going to be some draggy love story, I think I might enjoy it for the sake of Oguri Shun and Arata.

There are only three more dramas left to make their debut i.e. Iryu Sousa, Beginners! and Kuro no Onna Kyoushi and the last drama will only start on the 20th.

Of the dramas which have started their second round of OAs, GTO dropped slightly to 13.3% and Naniwa Shounen Tanteidan also slipped to 6.0%. Beautiful Rain also suffered the same fate but considering that it got 12.9% for its first episode, it's alarming to see that it has gone below 10% so quickly. Wonder if it's that timeslot has too many strong competitors or that people are not keen on a touching family drama?
