Oguri Shun to star in the real-life movie adaptation of "Lupin The 3rd"

There will be a real-life movie adaptation of famous manga "Lupin The Third" which will feature Oguri Shun as its lead. Besides Oguri, Tamayama Tetsuji will be playing the role of Jigen Daisuke, Ayano Go will play Ishikawa Goemon, Kuroki Meisa will be Mine Fujiko while Inspector Zenigata will be played by Asano Tadanobu. Other than the 5 Japanese cast members, there will be actors from various countries playing original characters such as Taiwan's F4 member Jerry Yen playing the role of Michael Lee, Lupin's enemy, Thai actor Thanayong Wongtrakul who fought against Won Bin in the Korean movie "Ahjussi", Australian actor Nick Tate, Korean actor Kim Jun, Thai actor Nirut Sirijanya and Thai female singer Yaya Ying.

As part of the preparations for his role as Lupin, Oguri had to go through a 10-month action training and lose 8 kilograms. On the other hand, Ayano who plays Goemon had to do the opposite by putting on about 10 kilograms and doing weight training to beef up his body. According to the producer Yamamoto Mataichiro, the most difficult role to fill was Mine Fujiko because they had to look for someone who would look sexy but not to the extent of overdoing it so they later decided on Kuroki unanimously.

Filming began on 3 Oct and was done in Japan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Philippines. About two-thirds of the filming had been completed so the only portion left is to be done in Chiangmai. Filming is expected to wrap up in late December and post-production work set to end in May 2014 in order to make it for the movie's release in cinemas during summer 2014.
