How does MOZU even get an excellence award?? The drama was so tedious, the plot was meh, and a waste of the cast's talents.

Good question, I was puzzled over that too. I guess the sleek production which looked more like what you would see in movies was probably what led to the award. Then again, the story simply was too disappointing and such a big waste of the talent in the cast lineup.

I'm surprised that hanako to anne did not get more awards since the ratings were high and usually the morning dramas always get awards

It could be that "Hanako to Anne" ended not too long ago and the results were probably decided at least weeks or months ago thus the drama probably lost out due to this time factor.

Anyway, this annual drama award seems to be decided by judges rather than by the general public so there may be dramas which may be hits in terms of ratings but can't get anything here or vice versa.
